| Visual overload forces us to triage visual input; quickly categorizing based on general, utilitarian qualities rather than appreciating specific uniqueness. We control overload through the "art" of not seeing. Photography allows me to imagine alternate realities for the subject in an attempt to see the object not only for what it is but for what it could be or could mean. While enamored with the sheer beauty of things, I especially like to frame or script everyday objects in ways that challenge and play with the viewer's preconceptions. |
